Data Storytelling

Gramener Decodes Data Science – External Talks in August 2020

Reading Time: 3 mins

In our journey to make the 7.8 billion people worldwide experience the power of data storytelling, we are taking small steps every month and connecting with young minds at colleges and universities.

We believe that students can build a better tomorrow by leveraging technology to help businesses, society, and communities solve complex problems.

In August 2020, four of our data specialists collaborated with reputed institutions – IIM Shillong, IIM Raipur, IIM Nagpur, and Goa Institute of Management. The sessions were crafted to teach the importance of Data Science, Storytelling, Advanced Analytics, and techniques such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The speakers ensured that the sessions added value to the future goals of students who would jump into the corporate world and deal with complex business problems.

Data And Storytelling To Make You Indispensable – IIM Shillong

Gramener’s Director of Client Success, Shravan Kumar A, delivered an engaging session on the impact of data storytelling to the students of IIM Shillong. It focused on creating data stories, and using data as an effective driver to accelerate business decisions.

Shravan outlined with examples the nine steps to transition data into an easily consumable narrative. He also had four great tips on how the students could get started on their data science journey, such as learning new tools quickly and the importance of picking up non-core skills.

Check out the slides Shravan used during the session.

The Art of Storytelling Using Data Science – IIM Raipur

Gramener’s Vice President, Sales – APAC region, Vijayam Sirikonda had a great virtual session with the students of IIM Raipur

As B-school students would soon jump into enterprises, the session focused on leveraging information to solve real-time business problems. Vijayam had an interactive session and shared tips to structure a data story and make it actionable for business users.

He focused particularly on case studies where Gramener helped public sector enterprises and non-profits get actionable insights from data. It led them to serve the community and people better. Check out the slides from the session.

Artificial Intelligence Driving Transformation in Industries – IIM Nagpur

Gramener’s Director of Delivery, Priyaranjan Mohanty, always shares his personal learning from the industry with young minds. His session with the students of IIM Nagpur was no different. He shared his learnings and focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) being a driving factor for digital transformation in many organizations.

From what the industry leaders think about digital transformation to how AI can shape the global economy, he explained it all.

His session focused on 3 major subjects.

  • Why should we talk about AI?
  • What’s the current status of AI in industries?
  • What’s something that we should know about AI?

Next, he focused on how supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning algorithms work and the type of problems they solve. To know more about Priyaranjan’s session, check out the slides below.
