Gramener Wins Nasscom AI Gamechangers 2024 Award for Responsible AI

Recently, we won the Nasscom AI Gamechangers Award for Responsible AI, especially for our Fish Detection and Classification project.

The Nasscom AI Gamechangers Awards, launched in 2021, recognize impactful AI implementations across various sectors. The third edition, themed “Amplifying India’s AI Adoption,” showcases innovators and leaders transforming industries and advancing AI in India.

The primary objective of the Fish Detection and Classification project was to understand the variations in fish count across different months and years in key rivers managed by the client. This data is crucial for making informed decisions about fishery management, as it provides vital insights into the movement patterns of various fish species.

Our solution integrates computer vision and AI to detect fish in videos and classify them based on species, such as Salmon and Trout. The AI model, trained on a diverse dataset of fish images, employs advanced object detection techniques to identify fish in the video footage. Upon detecting a fish, the model then uses classification algorithms to determine the species.

The implementation of this AI-driven solution has had a significant impact on fishery management. By automating fish detection and classification, we have significantly reduced the time and effort required for manual analysis. The client now has access to precise and timely data, enabling them to make more informed decisions about conservation strategies and resource allocation.

Moreover, this project’s success signifies AI’s potential to address environmental challenges. With AI, we can develop scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency and contribute to the sustainable management of natural resources.

Winning the Nasscom AI Gamechangers Award for Responsible AI highlights our commitment to ethical AI practices. Throughout the project, we adhered to the principles of transparency and accountability. This involved ensuring that our AI model was trained on diverse and representative data, implementing measures to mitigate bias, and maintaining transparency in our methodologies and results.
