The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams are just a couple of days away from the momentous clash at the Super Bowl 2019🏈.
Both the teams will be competing this Sunday, 3rd February 2019 at the Mercedes Benz Stadium – Atlanta to become this season’s ultimate American Football Champion. The heated debates on player analysis and winner prediction are already skyrocketing🚀 in sports communities and news channels. People are leveraging Google big time to extract maximum possible information before the Super Bowl Sunday.
Every year Google releases its Google Trends Data after the event showcasing the interest of users during the span of the game. While playing around on Google Trends, we tried to devise our own speculations on Super Bowl 2019 and found quite a few interesting insights.
I. When’s the Super Bowl 2019: Most asked question
Don’t worry, if you are unaware of the Super Bowl 2019 timing and location. Because, even a major chunk of America doesn’t know. When is the Super Bowl? Yes, that’s the top searched super bowl-related question on Google as per Google Trends data. The other top question follows asking for information on location, teams, etc. But hey! Did you notice Tom Brady in the top 5 searched questions?
II. New England Patriot is the hottest team
When we compared taking the finalist teams names as keywords, New England Patriot showed the highest number of searches when compared to the competitor team.
And the % of searches across various states of the American nation proves that the 5-time NFL Championship winners are the secret sauce of entertainment in the league.
Even before the Super Bowl 2019 season began, FiveThirtyEight’s NFL predictions gave the New England Patriots a huge 53% chance of winning the championship. This forecast is based on 100,000 simulations of the season and updates after every league game.
Now, can Tom Brady, the ‘thousand-yards run man’ be the possible reason for the popularity of the New England Patriots?
III. Most Popular Quarterback (Tom Brady)
Crazy enough, Google shows Tom Brady topping the charts by miles in comparison with major quarterbacks (Brian Hoyer, Sean Mannion, and Jared Goff) from the finalist teams. The search popularity of Tom Brady is beyond the popularity of other three combined.
Oh, wait! There’s more to it. Popularity need not be necessarily positive. Here’s what people are searching most about the top-rated quarterback. Click on the bottom left menu in the visualization below and select ‘rising’ searches.
IV. The Superb Owl
‘Suberb Owl’ yet another interest-cum-funny keyword that’s trending on Google every year during Super Bowl. This could be the mischief of our beloved “Auto-correct.” CBS Sports called it an oft-typoed search last year. This keyword has followed a continuous interesting pattern since 2004, on the day of the Super Bowl 2019. Every year searches for ‘Superb Owl’ also spike during the Super Bowl.
There would be a lot more exciting insights coming up after Google trends releases its data post game. We’ll wait, watch, analyze super bowl 2019 and keep you posted!
